Stepping up the Fight against Freshwater Electrocution
Those of us who attended the D10 Spring Conference last
March, could
personally appreciate the presentation on freshwater
electrocution by Kevin Ritz. Mr. Ritz advocates awareness and
prevention of this deadly hazard that can occur in fresh-water where
electrical shore or marine power is in use. We can all enhance
public and
member awareness of this threat by reading this
linked article from the May
issue of Boating Magazine, and helping spread its life-saving message.
As the article indicates, the critical preventive step is to stay and keep others out of fresh water near electrified docks or boats. The article also describes the use of fault detectors and interrupters that can reveal and shortstop the effect of electricity in fresh water. Please read this article, understand it, and then add your energy to the crusade against a killer.
