50 Year Member!

In January, 2007, Door County Squadron Cdr Carole Biddick presented Fred Hankwitz, P, with his certificate and pin commemorating his 50th year as a USPS member.

Fred is a ferry boat captain on the run between Washington Island and Door County. He joined USPS at age 18,and has taken all the elective courses.

Fred's Dad, Arthur W. Hankwitz, SN Milwaukee, was instrumental in the growth of the USPS and a past D/C for D/10. So Fred comes from an active USPS family.

For photos and more information on this commemorative event, visit the Door County web site.

Kronich Golden Anniversary with USPS!

Peter G. Kronich, SN, LM, joined the Sheboygan Power Squadron in 1957. He has since studied and passed all the courses the Power Squadron had to offer and thus holds the rank of Senior Navigator. He also has taught many Power Squadron courses over the years and has received more than 25 Merit Marks, and is thus a life member. He now has been awarded the Pin and Plaque for 50 years of service to the United States Power Squadron, an achievement very few people realize.

As Commander of the Sheboygan Power Squadron I want to congratulate Peter on receiving such an award!

Cdr Lyle E. Peschke, P

Captain Van Epern
Credits USPS for License!

Dear Sail and Power Squadron Members:

This letter is to express my gratitiude and appreciation to the Green Bay Sail and Power Squadron for being a valuable resource in obtaining a long time dream and career change for me.

When I joined the Green Bay Sail and Power Squadron over four years ago, my experience had been primarily with small craft and fishing. I'm proud to say that due to The Green Bay Sail and Power Squadron, I have gained the experience and ability to become a U. S. Coast Guard Master Licensed Captain and purchase a 38' vessel and start my own charter fishing business.

I want others to know that dreams are achievable, and The Green Bay Sail and Power Squadron played an important role in preparing me for my new career on the water. The course work that is offered by The Green Bay Sail and Power Squadron, and other resources should be considered by people who want to learn more. While the elective and advanced classes offered by The Green Bay Power Squadron have been excellant background for obtaining this license, I would recommend more studing of "rules of the road" and deck general subjects.

I am proud to be a members of this organization and hope that you will share my experience with others who are considering membership.

Sincerely,

Steve Van Epern,
Captain

Help!

We need your help in collecting information for our District 10 Web site. We'd like some historical data, a profile of your Squadron (like your membership make-up, where your members boat, something interesting about your Squadron, etc., and your primary activities.) In addition, we need information on all your public and member courses, with the name and phone number of the contact, the course, the location, and starting date. Send the materials to the webmaster Bob Story.
